Go for a romantic stroll down the Arno River, past the iconic Ponte Vecchio bridge. Why not snap a few shots with the bridge in the background. You could swing by one of the gelato shops for a sweet treat along your walk.

2. Admire the Duomo di Firenze

The Florence Cathedral is the most iconic building in Florence. The outside is covered in intricate artwork and the inside is just as jaw-dropping.  You can enter the cathedral for FREE but if you want to explore further you will need to purchase a pass.

Secret Coffee Spot:

Go into the Biblioteca delle Oblate library and up the stairs to the Oblate café. There is a large outdoor terrace where you can sip surprisingly affordable coffee with an incredible view of the Duomo di Firenze.

3. Watch the Sunset

One of the most romantic things to do in Florence is to watch the sunset in a beautiful location. The most popular sunset spot in Florence is at the Piazzale Michelangelo. The view here is one-of-a-kind, the only downside is that it can get incredibly busy in the summer.

4. Eat the Best Italian Pizza

Pop on a cute dress and a fancy shirt and head along to this local restaurant for the best pizza you will ever have! The restaurant you want to go to is called La Farina Pizza + Grill. It is a little outside of the tourist area, but I promise you, it is worth the walk. Our favourite pizza was the nduja and burrata one but you can’t go wrong with any of the pizzas here.

5. Visit a Wine Window

Head along to one of the iconic wine windows in Florence with your love. Knock on the window and the waiter will take your order. A few minutes later, a hand with your wine will pop through the window. Cheers!

Here’s where you can find the wine windows:

  • Buchetta del Vino
  • Babae

6. Pick a Romantic Hotel for a Date Night

Florence has plenty of gorgeous hotels and Airbnb’s dotted around the city. A hotel date night is the ideal way to relax in Florence and can be very budget-friendly. Why not grab a pencil and sketch pad and have a go at sketching one of the many famous landmarks in Florence like the Florence Cathedral or Ponte Vecchio bridge. For more fun hotel date night inspiration, have a read of our list of hotel date night ideas.

Here's a tip:

To get the pick of the bunch, book your accommodation in Florence as early as possible if you are travelling during peak season.

7. Hire a Vespa

Up for a little romantic Italian adventure?  Hire a vespa for the day to explore the breathtaking Tuscan countryside. Feel the wind in your hair as you pass by vineyards and wind your way through the rolling hills to visit cute Italian towns. Our favourite stops are San Gimignano, Sienna and Montepulciano. Take your time to explore the town Piazza’s and iconic cobbled side streets at each location.

Here's a tip:

San Gimignano has a gelato shop that claims to be the best gelato shop in Italy. We have tried A LOT of gelato and we agree! It's called Gelateria Dondoli and is located in the piazza. They even have some unusual flavours to try!

Another unforgettable romantic thing to do in Florence is to visit to the Uffizi Gallery. There is nothing like wandering through one of the most iconic art galleries in history, hand-in-hand with your lover, marveling at the artwork. Have a bit of fun and see who can come up with the best story behind one of the art pieces.
